The new RS-Class features a high-quality sandwich laminate in the hull. Kevlar in the outer layer gives you an extremely hard-wearing outer skin. The new core material absorbs a small amount of resin. This results in very good bonding of the cover laminates over the entire surface, almost eliminating delamination. In addition, the high hardness of the core makes it resistant to punctual loads without damage. This eliminates the usual weaknesses of sandwich laminates with conventional cores (honeycomb, PVC foam) from the outset.
From May 2020, we will forego the well-known wooden washboard strip in the RS-Class and replace it with a kinked carbon fiber edge. A technology that is otherwise only used in modern racing boat construction.
